SKYLINE DEVELOPMENT LAUNCHES BLOG FOR THE CLIFFS
Developer Believes BLOG to be Among the First of its Kind

BOISE – Skyline Development Inc., the Boise-based developer of The Cliffs planned community, today announced the launch of its blog at www.thecliffsidaho.com. The blog, which officially began with today’s post, will allow the company to better address questions from the public, said Skyline Principal Tucker Johnson.

“Over the past several months, a considerable amount of misinformation has been reported concerning our true intentions for The Cliffs,” Johnson said. “That is why it is so important to us at Skyline to stay at the forefront of communicating with those who share a common interest in this special project. Blogs allow us a real-time ability to communicate with so many people at the same time. Therefore, we are confident this new communication tool will support our goals to interact effectively with the public, giving local citizens an opportunity to hear from us, directly.”

Blog entries will consist of Johnson’s observations about the project, updates and responses to recent events. Prior to moving forward with its plan to begin a blog, Skyline spent the considerable time researching blogs nationwide, but was hard-pressed to find other developers employing the technology to reach out to people on public policy issues.

Skyline expects to submit its application to Ada County for The Cliffs early this spring. The proposed planned community would set aside more than half of its land for open space and wildlife habitat restoration. Twelve- to fourteen-hundred homes would be clustered around and buffered from wildlife habitat, far exceeding the habitat preservation requirements of any local governments. Accommodations would be made for hikers, bicyclists, rock climbers and other recreationists.

Last month, Skyline announced preliminary plans for the 1,200-1,400 home residential/neighborhood commercial development to be built on 707 acres of privately-owned property above the Black Cliffs in Ada County near the intersection of Idaho 21 and Warm Springs Boulevard. At least half of the property will be set aside as contiguous open space, the majority of which will be designated as restored habitat for wildlife.

The family comprising Skyline Development, a 38-year-old home-grown Idaho business, has developed and designed more than 15 Treasure Valley neighborhoods with well over 5,000 home sites, including The Hickories, Vienna Woods and Rockhampton. About 15,000 people valley-wide live in Skyline neighborhoods. For more information, go to www.thecliffsidaho.com.
