Current Habitat Conditions and Future Restoration Goals

OUTDOORS

Decades of unplanned housing development, wildfires, invasive weeds and abuse have degraded the property and surrounding area, greatly reducing its ability to support wildlife. The Cliffs will be remarkable because of the extensive habitat enhancement Skyline Development will undertake as part of the overall development.

Conservation measures proposed by Skyline will benefit wildlife in many ways:

  • More than 50 percent of The Cliffs, including a significant portion of developable land, will be set aside as contiguous open space. The majority of the open space will be restored to native habitat for a variety of wildlife.
  • Restoration of native habitat and creation of wildlife food plots will ensure a reliable source of food for wintering big game.
  • Native shrubs will shelter wildlife from harsh winter weather to provide thermal cover.
  • Enhancement of riparian draws will also improve habitat for nesting and migrating birds, and permanent water sources will benefit all wildlife species.

Collectively, these steps are expected to increase the carrying capacity of the land to support a greater diversity of wildlife than currently exists on the property.
